With more than 25 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist, Reema Shafi has established a distinguished career in community-based rehabilitation, medical-legal consulting, case management and life care planning. Recognized as an expert by the Licence Appeal Tribunal and Ontario Superior Court of Justice, she has extensive expertise in conducting comprehensive medical-legal evaluations, developing life care plans, and providing evidence-based recommendations to support functional recovery and long-term care needs.

She has contributed extensively to advancing standards of practice through participation in provincial and international working groups, including initiatives focused on occupational therapy practice, life care planning, and the development of care pathways for individuals with mild traumatic brain injury. She has also contributed to consensus-building efforts for the 3rd Edition of the Guidelines for Concussion/mTBI and Persistent Symptoms for Adults published by the Ontario Neurotrauma Foundation. Her professional interests include research examining the neuropathophysiological effects of concussion and mild traumatic brain injury, with a focus on translating scientific knowledge into practical rehabilitation strategies.

As an educator and thought leader, she has served as a lecturer within the Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy at the University of Toronto, where she developed and taught graduate-level coursework on Ethics in Private Practice and delivered core curriculum lectures. Her scholarly contributions further include editorial and peer-review services for professional journals.
